Welcome to El Gucamayo A Taste of Jungle Life with Some Creature Comforts and Realistic Camp Ground. Off the Grid, in the Jungle, among the Mayan Ruins is Peace, Bird songs and Life.

Contact Larry Wellington for more information for El Guacamayo Jungle Camp.

Located On the east bank of the Macal River miles from town, and eons away from civilization and the noise pollution. The only sounds you will hear is the surrounding wildlife which are birds or crickets with an occasional cow mooing.

Here you will experience some of the best Bird Watching available in Belize, Toucans nest in trees near the camp ground, along with Parrots and a variety of other native and migratory birds.

Other wild life include, Jaguars, Tapir, Gibnot, Monkeys and deer, something for everyone to enjoy young and old...

Simple to moderate cabins high above the river (which you cross on a canoe). Located on the edge of a huge and mysterious ancient hidden Mayan site. You will have the pleasure of exploring this on your own, or with a guided tour given by Larry or David (when we are available).

Tent camping is also available on the plaza level of the ruins.

Lots of good food, much of it organically grown near the cabins, prepared in the traditional Mayan method over an open wood fire, and cooked to perfection, more than ample portions for the hungriest of travelers.

A wonderful sense of timelessness overcomes at night as you sit on a Maya mound outside your cabin watching the stars and the sunset.
